CM Punk’s second act in WWE continues to deliver memorable moments, and now he’s adding another accolade to his legacy.
The reigning World Heavyweight Champion will grace the standard edition cover of WWE 2K26, marking his second appearance as a cover star since 2013.
But there’s more to this year’s game than just Punk’s triumphant return to the franchise.
With four different editions, over 400 playable characters, and features that dive deep into wrestling’s most iconic era, WWE 2K26 is positioning itself as the most ambitious installment yet.
CM Punk Returns to Video Game Glory
WWE 2K26, developed by Visual Concepts, launches Friday, March 6 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. Punk not only headlines the cover but also anchors this year’s 2K Showcase mode.
As a kid, I could only dream of being on the cover of a video game. Now I join a very exclusive group of WWE Superstars who have done it twice.
The Best in the World narrated the entire Showcase himself, promising fans an unfiltered look at his career’s defining moments.
I enjoyed the experience of narrating the 2K Showcase, which gave me an opportunity to tell fans the straight, unfiltered story of the moments, matches, and controversies in my career. Players will get to step into my boots, relive some of my proudest WWE moments, and take on challenges I never had the opportunity to face.

Superstars Weigh In
During a WWE 2K26 Developer Roundtable hosted by The Takedown on SI, Liv Morgan crashed the conversation with some playful criticism.
You couldn’t at least give us The Judgment Day on the cover? I’m scared to ask what everyone’s ratings are. I’m scared to find out if Dominik [Mysterio] is even the default Intercontinental Champion in the game.
Despite her grievances, Morgan acknowledged the game’s potential.
I just thought I’d come in and give these little tidbits of advice so that maybe next year could be the greatest 2K of all time. Once you have Liv-Dom as your cover stars. But I hear the game is great and I’m excited to play, so I digress.
Bron Breakker expressed genuine enthusiasm about the franchise’s evolution.
It gets better every year, just because of how great of a job 2K does with revolutionizing the graphics, the movement, the different capabilities and the different combos that you can use. There’s a lot of new things with WWE 2K26 this year, in terms of fantasy booking. You can pick from different eras and it’s also the biggest roster that in the history of the game.
When asked which new match type he’d prefer in real life, Breakker took a shot at the cover star ahead of their World Heavyweight Championship match.
I think I’m gonna go with a Dumpster Match… and put CM Punk in the dumpster where he belongs. ‘Cause he’s absolutely garbage.
His dream opponent? WWE Hall of Famer Andre The Giant—a fantasy match-up players can book themselves starting March 6.
Pre-orders for WWE 2K26 open today across all platforms.
