Tara Reid Claims She Was Drugged at Hotel. Police Reviewed Surveillance Footage and Found No Evidence to Support Her Account

Tara Reid’s claim that she was drugged at a Chicago-area hotel has taken a significant turn after police reviewed surveillance footage from the night in question.

The American Pie actress was wheeled out on a stretcher from a Rosemont, Illinois hotel on November 23rd, later filing a police report alleging she’d been drugged by a stranger she met at the hotel bar.

But according to authorities, video evidence tells a different story.

The Rosemont Public Safety Department has now stated there’s no indication from surveillance footage that Reid was drugged at the DoubleTree Chicago O’Hare Airport location.

What the Surveillance Footage Revealed

Police released a detailed statement on December 3rd outlining what their investigation uncovered so far.

While video surveillance showed Tara Reid at the hotel bar, at no time did video show anyone tampering with or adding something to her drink.

Authorities confirmed that a bartender actually covered Reid’s drink when she temporarily left the bar — a standard safety practice in the hospitality industry designed to prevent tampering.

The investigation remains open, however, as police await hospital records that could provide crucial information about what happened that night.

Reid’s Account of the Evening

In her police report, the 50-year-old actress described a frightening sequence of events that began innocently enough.

Reid was staying at the DoubleTree for a celebrity signing event when she ordered a glass of white wine at the hotel bar. That’s when a man approached her.

A man came up to me and introduced himself as Sean P, a very successful influencer and YouTuber.

According to Reid’s statement, the two went outside for a cigarette and exchanged phone numbers while talking. When she returned inside, she noticed something odd.

There was a napkin over my drink.

What happened next left Reid with no memory of approximately eight hours.

Then the last thing I remember was drinking that drink and seeing a couple sitting next to us. The next thing I remember was waking up in the hospital around 8 hours or more later not knowing where I was or anything that happened. I completely blacked out with no recollection of anything.

Disturbing Video Footage Surfaces

TMZ obtained video showing Reid in obvious distress before being transported from the hotel.

In the footage, Reid appears unable to support herself as a man physically holds her upright. A woman brings a wheelchair to assist.

Several people surround the actress as one man forcefully attempts to place her coat on while another individual tries to stop him. Once seated in the wheelchair, Reid was given bottled water but spoke incoherently.

The video shows her slouching dramatically, nearly falling out of the wheelchair entirely before being placed on a stretcher.

Alleged Extortion Attempt

Reid’s police report included additional disturbing allegations beyond the suspected drugging.

She claimed the influencer she met at the bar later sent her videos of herself from that night, which she interpreted as an extortion attempt.

According to Reid, he suggested he could prevent the videos from being released publicly. The man also allegedly confirmed that Reid had consumed only one drink during their time together.

Filing the Police Report

After Reid’s agent picked her up from the hospital, they returned to the hotel so she could gather her belongings before flying back to Los Angeles.

Two days after the incident, Reid attempted to file a police report from California but encountered bureaucratic obstacles initially.

She stated that Los Angeles authorities initially told her she couldn’t file a report over the phone and would need to travel back to Illinois in person. Eventually, she was permitted to file the report remotely without returning.

What Happens Next

Police have made clear that their investigation isn’t closed, despite the surveillance footage not showing evidence of drink tampering.

Authorities are working with Reid to obtain hospital records, which could reveal whether toxicology testing was performed and what substances, if any, were detected in her system.

We cannot, however, confirm at this time if or what specific chemical testing the hospital may have conducted.

Police added that Reid herself has not yet received these records either.

Pending those results or further information coming forward, our detectives will follow up on those leads accordingly.

Currently, authorities state there’s no criminal act that has been confirmed and no one under active investigation.

Important Safety Reminders

Regardless of what ultimately happened in Reid’s case, police used this incident as an opportunity to remind the public about drink safety.

While we do not have any evidence that a drink was tampered with, it is a good reminder to never leave a drink unattended. If you ever believe you have been drugged or feel unsafe, please reach out to local authorities.

Drink spiking remains a serious concern at bars, hotels, and social venues. Experts recommend several precautions:

  • Never leave drinks unattended, even for brief moments
  • Watch your drink being prepared when possible
  • Use drink covers or coasters when stepping away temporarily
  • Don’t accept drinks from strangers unless you see them poured
  • Trust your instincts if something feels wrong
  • Stay with trusted friends who can watch out for you

Hotel Response

The DoubleTree Chicago O’Hare Airport issued a statement on November 26th addressing the incident.

Hotel representatives emphasized that staff acted appropriately when they observed a potential health concern involving Reid.

Our trained security team assisted and arranged for medical support.

The hotel stated they take guest safety allegations seriously and would provide appropriate information to authorities if requested, noting that guest and employee safety remains their paramount concern.

Representatives for Tara Reid have not yet responded to requests for comment following the police department’s latest statement about the surveillance footage findings.
