Star Wars fans, get ready to open your wallets.
Hasbro just unveiled an impressive lineup of action figures tied to The Mandalorian and Grogu, the next theatrical adventure hitting screens May 22.
While plot details remain scarce since the teaser trailer dropped five months ago, one thing is crystal clear: this movie means serious merchandise is coming.
And io9 got an exclusive first look at what collectors can expect from Hasbro’s six-inch Black Series line.
The Star Attraction: Din Djarin and Grogu Deluxe Set
Naturally, a film called The Mandalorian and Grogu needs our beloved duo front and center.
Hasbro delivers with a deluxe set retailing for $35 that packs serious value. Din Djarin comes loaded with an arsenal that would make any bounty hunter jealous.
The set includes a newly articulated Grogu sculpt specifically designed to nestle on Din’s back or climb around him. Beyond Baby Yoda himself, collectors get Din’s backpack, his iconic blaster pistol, a brand-new rifle, and a small knife that slots perfectly into his boot.
There’s even an extra hand sculpted specifically to hold that knife.
But the most intriguing addition? A short sword that’s distinctly not the Darksaber but hints at new combat scenarios we’ll see on screen.
Imperial Remnant Forces: Battered But Not Beaten
Every hero needs villains, and Hasbro understands that army-building is half the fun.
The Imperial Remnant provides most of the opposition in this initial wave. These aren’t your father’s pristine Stormtroopers—these troops show wear and tear befitting an Empire that lost its grip on power after Endor.
Standard Remnant Troops Get Dirty
Both the Remnant Stormtrooper and Remnant AT-AT Driver feature weathered paint applications that tell a story. Armor polish apparently isn’t in the post-Empire budget.
The AT-AT Driver comes equipped with a blaster pistol, while the standard trooper carries an E-11 rifle plus removable accessories including a pauldron and ammo pouch. Those removable pieces mean collectors can mix and match to create variety when building their Remnant forces.
New Trooper Design: The AT-RT Driver
Here’s where things get interesting for lore enthusiasts.
The Imperial Remnant apparently scavenged Clone Wars-era AT-RT walkers for The Mandalorian and Grogu. Piloting these vehicles are brand-new Remnant AT-RT Drivers sporting a fascinating hodgepodge armor design that blends Snow Trooper and Shore Trooper elements.
It’s visual storytelling at its finest—showing an Empire making do with whatever scraps remain.
Target Exclusive: Extra Battle-Damaged Trooper
Target stores will carry an exclusive version of the Remnant Stormtrooper that’s even more worse for wear. This variant features brown replacement armor pieces on arms and legs where white plating has been lost or damaged.
It’s a small detail that adds tremendous character to any display.
Sigourney Weaver Joins The Fight
Rounding out the initial wave is Colonel Ward, played by legendary actress Sigourney Weaver.
First glimpsed at Celebration Japan last year, Ward appears in full X-Wing pilot gear. The figure comes with a removable helmet but unfortunately no additional accessories or weapons.
Then again, when you’re Sigourney Weaver in an X-Wing pilot suit, perhaps that’s all the intimidation factor needed.
First Edition Variants For Early Adopters
Hasbro is offering something special for collectors who want bragging rights.
“First Edition” variants will release March 22—two months before the film hits theaters. These special versions will be available exclusively in-store at Walmart and Target in the United States, plus through Hasbro fan channel retailers internationally.
The First Edition lineup includes:
- Deluxe Mandalorian and Grogu set
- Standard Remnant Stormtrooper
- Remnant AT-AT Driver
- Remnant AT-RT Driver
- Colonel Ward
The only difference is white packaging instead of standard boxes. Contents remain identical, so completists can rest easy knowing they won’t miss any unique accessories.
But owning figures from a brand-new Star Wars movie before most fans? That’s collector gold.
When And Where To Pre-Order
Mark your calendars for February 13 at 1 p.m. Eastern Time.
That’s when pre-orders go live across multiple retailers including Hasbro Pulse and participating stores. Target’s exclusive battle-damaged Remnant Stormtrooper will also become available for pre-order at that exact time.
The full spring wave should arrive in stores sometime before The Mandalorian and Grogu premieres May 22. Given how quickly Star Wars collectibles sell out—especially anything Grogu-related—setting those pre-order alarms might be wise.
What This Reveals About The Film
While Hasbro hasn’t revealed plot details, these figures offer tantalizing clues.
Din Djarin’s expanded arsenal suggests significant action sequences. That mysterious short sword hints at close-quarters combat we haven’t seen him engage in before.
The heavy presence of weathered Imperial Remnant forces indicates they’ll serve as primary antagonists. Those scavenged AT-RT walkers tell us the Remnant is scraping together whatever Clone Wars-era equipment they can find.
And Colonel Ward’s X-Wing pilot gear confirms New Republic forces will play a role in whatever conflict unfolds.
For collectors and fans alike, February 13 marks the beginning of what promises to be an extensive merchandising campaign. Whether you’re an army-builder focused on Remnant troops or simply want Din and Grogu on your shelf, Hasbro’s Black Series lineup offers something for everyone.
Just remember: in Star Wars collecting, hesitation often means sold-out status.
