Emily in Paris is officially returning for Season 6.
The announcement came Monday, just two weeks after all 10 episodes of Season 5 landed on the streaming platform, leaving viewers with enough cliffhangers to fill the Seine.

Mindy’s Marriage Dilemma Takes Center Stage
Season 5 wrapped with perhaps its biggest bombshell involving Mindy, played by Ashley Park. After Nicolas de Léon spent half the season working overtime to repair their relationship, Mindy said yes to his marriage proposal during a romantic gondola ride in Venice.
Emily and Marcello were right there witnessing the whole thing. Picture-perfect, right? Not exactly.
There’s just one tiny complication: Alfie. The spark between Mindy and Lucien Laviscount’s character earlier in the season threw a serious wrench into what should have been a straightforward happy ending.
Creator Darren Star addressed the unexpected chemistry in a recent interview with Deadline.
Anything’s possible, and I definitely feel like the two of them had a lot of chemistry, and it came out of left field for Mindy. It’s not the way she saw her life going.
That Final Scene Says Everything
In the finale’s closing moments, Alfie confronts Mindy, spots the engagement ring, and wishes her luck—but not before making his feelings about Nicolas crystal clear. Mindy glances at Emily with panic in her eyes and asks the question viewers are screaming at their screens.

Park herself offered insight into Mindy’s mindset, explaining her character’s pattern of choosing difficult paths over easy ones.
I think because maybe this rift with Emily softened her, I don’t want to say weakened her, she kind of just wants to choose the easy path. And we see her make decisions in a spontaneous way that maybe she shouldn’t.
Emily’s Love Life Takes Another Wild Turn
While Mindy grapples with ring-related regret, Emily Cooper found herself in yet another messy romantic situation. She ended things with Marcello after mistakenly believing he planned to propose—turns out he was just holding Nicolas’s ring.

The thing that’s interesting about Season 5 is, instead of it being open-ended for Emily, Emily is cool. She is fine. She is actually more concerned at work with what Princess Jane is bringing to the table. She’s great with how she handled things with Gabriel and Marcello. It’s Gabriel that’s unsure, and I love that there’s a shift there.
For once, Emily isn’t the hot mess. Gabriel holds that title now.
