On her Tuesday YouTube show, Owens played a recording allegedly made less than two weeks after Kirk was fatally shot at a Utah event.
What she heard left her disturbed—and she’s not holding back her opinions.
The audio might permanently damage the fragile truce these two conservative figures had previously negotiated.
Metrics Over Mourning?
In the leaked audio, Erika Kirk can allegedly be heard discussing her late husband’s memorial service with what Owens characterized as shocking enthusiasm for event statistics.
I don’t even know where to begin. The fact that we were able to pull off an event of a century, like, it’s just insane. We had over 275,000 people that attended and stadium overflow, west gate. Insane, you guys.
Erika continued rattling off numbers: 100 million viewers, thousands of new voter registrations, and over $200,000 in merchandise sales.
She thanked multiple teams—events, development, graphic design, and production—for their work during what she acknowledged was “the time of us grieving the loss of my husband.”
A Memorial Like No Other
Charlie Kirk’s public memorial took place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, home of the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals.
The event featured pyrotechnics, speeches from conservative leaders including Vice President J.D. Vance, and production values typically reserved for major entertainment spectacles.
Since Charlie’s death, Erika has taken over leadership of Turning Point USA, the conservative organization her husband founded.
In the recording, she acknowledged staff members who worked “20-hour days and sleepless nights” to create the elaborate memorial.
Owens Speaks Her Mind
After playing the audio, Owens didn’t mince words about what she found troubling.
It is the general tone that is off-putting. It is the laughter that is off-putting. Again, we are not even two weeks after watching her husband be assassinated, we’re talking about numbers and metrics that have been hit.
Owens acknowledged that grief manifests differently for everyone but couldn’t shake her reaction to Erika’s demeanor.
We know everybody grieves differently. In my imagination, I just thought she would be more upset.
The commentary suggests Owens believes Erika reached the “acceptance stage” of grief with suspicious speed.
A Truce That Didn’t Last
This latest controversy comes just weeks after Owens and Erika appeared to resolve their differences.
Back in December, tensions had escalated when Owens publicly questioned the official narrative surrounding Charlie Kirk’s death, suggesting Turning Point USA and authorities weren’t revealing everything.
Erika urged Owens to stop spreading theories and invited her to meet privately.
Following their December meeting, both women described it as productive.
Erika and I had an extremely productive 4 1/2 hour meeting that I think we both feel should have taken place a lot earlier than it did.
Owens wrote on Twitter that they “agreed much more than I had anticipated” while acknowledging disagreements remained on “various points and people.”
What Was Accomplished?
At the time, Owens indicated their conversation allowed them to “share intel and clarify intent,” with immediate results being that “tensions were thawed.”
She described holding nothing back during their lengthy discussion.
Erika had told her social media followers the conversation was “very productive,” seemingly signaling an end to their public dispute.

Whatever goodwill existed after December’s meeting may have evaporated with Owens’ decision to air the private audio.
